Full Day Everyday Kindergarten at Graminia School - 2023/2024 school year
We are excited to announce that Graminia School is planning to pilot an inquiry-nature based full-time (everyday, all day) Kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year. After consultation with our Early Learning Services Team and review of practices of other divisions similar to Parkland School Division, we plan to pilot a play-based, student-centered, full-day, everyday Kindergarten. Our full-day everyday program would be structured to focus on classroom learning and curricular outcomes of the kindergarten curriculum in the morning and the afternoon programming would be a student-led, nature based, inquiry learning model.
This is different from Nature K that is currently running at Muir Lake School, as the students at Graminia School will be registered in one class cohort that is together on all the days. The Muir Lake School Nature K allows for registration from other kindergarten students to attend on their alternating days, our full-day everyday kindergarten will require the students to be registered at Graminia School for their kindergarten programming and attend all days together. This pilot program will operate on a cost-recovery basis and will only run if there are enough registrations and deposits. The cost for your child to attend full-day, everyday Kindergarten will be $400 per month. A deposit of $800 is required at the time of program registration. Deposits will be returned if the program does not have sufficient enrollment. We will accept deposits and registrations until May 1, 2023. If there are more than 21 registered students, a draw to ensure fairness and equality will determine who will be enrolled regardless of when the registration and deposit were received. All deposits will be returned if there are insufficient students registered by May 1. Confirmation of enrollment and deposit will be shared with parents and/or guardians by May 5.
The fee does not include transportation costs; however, students in all-day, everyday Kindergarten will have access to the same transportation available to PSD students enrolled in alternating days. Parkland School Division cannot guarantee transportation for all students interested in this program. Once we have confirmation of enrollment, we will work with PSD Transportation to determine rider eligibility. If we are unable to provide transportation, any deposits will be returned. If you are interested in registering your child for full day, everyday Kindergarten, please contact the office and speak with one of our helpful secretaries, 780-963-5035. The deposit must be paid in full to be considered fully registered. Payments can be made in person at the school office by cash or online through the parent portal.
