Music is for Everyone!

Our program provides many opportunities for students to attain the musical skills and understanding needed to make music an enjoyable and meaningful part of their lives.

Elementary Music

Kindergarten to Grade 6 follows the Alberta Curriculum for music using many different instruments, techniques and experiences. There are typically both winter performances and spring performances.

Elementary Choir for Grades 3-6

This is an extracurricular experience for our upper elementary students to learn and perform.

Complementary CTF Band Courses for Grades 7-9

(CTF = Career and Technology Foundations)

  • Beginner Band: Students will have the opportunity to choose and learn a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument and continue with that chosen instrument in a group setting. Students learn the fundamentals necessary to properly hold and produce a characteristic sound on a band instrument. Instrument care and proper rehearsal etiquette are taught and practiced. Students participate in two evening concerts and get the opportunity to go on exciting field trips.
  • Senior Band: Continues to develop the student's ability in instrumental music. Basic music reading skills are reinforced and students continue to refine the correct posture for playing. Jazz, rock, and improvisation are also introduced this year. Students participate in two evening concerts and get the opportunity to go on exciting field trips.

Please note: Beginner and senior band are supported by the Graminia Swinging Band Society.
